Many nineteenth-century cabinets received “antique” enamel finishes in solid color during the 1950s to 1970s

Serial number photo was taken at time of donation

Chickering used a hinge-style perimeter joint, rather than to glue the soundboard directly to the rim. The rib scaling accommodated this design. While a tonal advantage is not proven by this design, the pianos built during this period were tonally exceptional.

Interior remains original throughout piano
