The instrument used in the Mike Cheng-Yu Lee Recital February 1, 2020 is a 6 octave pianoforte after an 1805 5 1/2 octave Walter, built in 2018 by Paul McNulty. A 6 octave Walter was known to have existed, though none appear extant. Walter was a favorite builder of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. Generously loaned for this concert by early keyboard specialist Charles Metz
The instrument used for the Ken Aiso Recital February 22, 2020 is to be determined. Mr. Aiso has performed with a 6 octave 1829 Broadwood in the past at Hole Memorial Auditorium, but may use one of the two “Beethoven pianos” available to the Period Piano Collection.
